Task Force 373 is a U.S. joint military commando assassination unit active worldwide under another designation that’s classified right now.. TF 373 has operated in Afghanistan, Philippines, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Somalia with very little regard for the value of civilian life..In Afghanistan the unit is stationed at Camp Marmal, the German field base in Mazar-e-Sharif, as well as Kabul, Kandahar and Khost.
TF 373 raises fundamental questions about the legality of the killing and of the long-term imprisonment without trial of so called suspects. Extrajudicial killing is illegal
Chapter 373 of the US Code 10, the act of the US Congress that sets out what the US military is legally allowed to do, permits the Secretary of Defense to empower any "civilian employee" of the military "to execute warrants and make arrests without a warrant" in criminal matters. Whether or not this is indeed the basis for that "373" remains a classified matter - as was the very existence of the group. TF 373 contravenes U.N. law.
