War criminals
British colonialism of Sri Lanka (1915-1948) is one of the main factors of the Sinhalese-Tamil conflict. Sinhalese felt that Tamils were given preferential treatment by the colonists as part of the usual “divide and conquer” strategy. However, as SL became independent from Brit rule as of 4th February 1948, the Tamil minority were disadvantaged. Another cause is the caste system. Allocation of labour on the basis of caste is one of the fundamental tenets of many caste systems, with lower-castes typically restricted to tasks and occupations that are deemed too "filthy" or "polluting" for higher-caste communities. It's beyond belief that people can be so evil and stupid. Identification and discrimination based on caste, or casteism, as perceived by UNICEF, affects 250 million people worldwide. Tamils do not have rights and are denied Sri Lankan citizenship even though they have lived in SL since the Brit colonial era. They have no access to education, public transport or medical centres. Labourers (Tamils) on tea plantations in SL can only be described as modern day slaves. Tamils formed the Tigers (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) with the express purpose of realising a separate state to free Tamils from slavery. UK companies profiting from and/or operating SL tea plantations: Fortnum & Mason, Associated British Foods (Twinings, Nambarrie), Charbrew Tea, Frederick John Horniman, Lancashire Tea, Marks & Spencer, Matthew Algie, Ringtons, Tata Tea Limited (Tetley), Typhoo, Whittard of Chelsea, Betty & Taylors of Harrogate (Yorkshire Tea) and Unilever (PG Tips, Lipton, Lyons Tea, Scottish Blend). When English firms faced losing cheap slave labour, the UK government set out to crush the Tigers to "protect British interests." The Tamils fate was thus sealed. UK and USA intelligence agencies targeted the Tigers under the guise of the "War on Terror." At the beginning of 2009 the SL government systematically hindered foreign journalists and UN peace monitors. In January the SL military attacked the Tamils. Safe zones were designated by the SL govt ensuring the cohesive herding of the Tamils. Military spokesman Brig Udaya Nanayakkara said advancing troops would not fire into zones. Over the next five months all Tamils within the so-called safe zones were tortured, hacked, raped and shot as well as bombarded with heavy artillery supplied by the world's leading arms exporters, USA and UK. The UN Report of the Secretary-General's Panel of Experts on Accountability in Sri Lanka estimates a civilian death toll of 75,000. Indian ministers and generals visited SL just before and during the genocide. Did India together with the USA and UK facilitate the genocide? Afterwards a massive worldwide propaganda campaign was launched by the SL govt. A key speech to the UN by president Mahinda Rajaapkse was drafted by the company Bell Pottinger (UK). Govt doctors were arrested and forced to recant their previous eyewitness accounts with the threat of several years imprisonment under SL's prevention of terrorism laws. The UN's failure to properly address war crimes committed by the SL govt and the UK's permanent seat on the Security Council (UNSC) seriously undermines the UN's legitimacy and credibility as an organisation that was specifically established to prevent heinous crimes against humanity. The Commonwealth of Nations, normally referred to as the Commonwealth and formerly known as the British Commonwealth, is an intergovernmental organisation of fifty-four independent member states. All but two of these countries (Mozambique and Rwanda) were formerly part of the British Empire, out of which it developed. The UK's and SL's continued membership is a disgrace. Sri Lanka is the venue for the next Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in 2013, a fact that brings the Commonwealth into disrepute. What price a cup of tea?
Is the western dominated International Criminal Court just another propaganda machine?
